Auckland to Paihia
12/3/23
She was up before the birds today, as we were catching another bus, we were both hoping we didn't have the same lady as yesterday.
The mistress is still very annoyed about this stupid woman. Nope, today it's a fella. He looked more professional that's for sure and not sloppy. When the mistress, who was second in line asked the driver where we were to sit, he announced, anywhere. So up the stairs, a double decker, we went and got a seat at the front of the window, for a bird's eye view.
You should have seen her duck when the branches collected on her side..... was quite entertaining really and this happened several times.
She nearly ducked when going under bridges and large signs too. Anyway, was a good trip even though I saw her nod off at times. She wanted to stay awake as had not seen this part of the country. It was a long trip, 4 hours sitting with 1 stop.
As soon as we got to Paihia a fella was there to take our case to the motel, then we set off to Waitangi for a tour, and the mistress was tired and needed a break, but the motel wasn't ready. HO HUMM.
Then when we checked in at Waitangi, we headed off to a cafe with another lovely couple from Scotland. The mistress nearly choked at the counter, when the fella said sorry, we are out of English breakfast tea, her favorite. Every other flavor but not plain tea. She was gasping as she loves tea like others like coffee.
Since when do cafes run out of a good old cup of tea. That's the first and hopefully the last cafe to not have any in stock. What's wrong with the local supermarket. What would happen if they ran out of coffee she says. The world revolves around coffee but obviously not tea. Strange people in the north island. !!
So, then it's time to head to the Cultural experience where these strange people poke their tongues out at us. Thats not good manners I would have thought. They did all this weird stuff, like, throwing a twig down for one of the tourists to pick up, but not before he was told to. A twig how stupid is this? waving balls around and large sticks all shapes and sizes.
They sang songs and that was the best part, as we thought they were pretty good.
We did lots of walking, around this place and the mistress is sure to sleep tonight. But guess what? We get to the motel to make a cup of tea, and she yelled YUK. Gosh, I am sure everyone else heard this. Whatever is the matter woman? The tea tasted terrible. She thought it was the brand, but when she had a drink of water YUK. Says it tastes like dirt. I quite like dirt myself...๐๐๐
We needed to go and get a meal and so many choices. A lady stopped and admired the mistress's dress. She is always getting comments from strangers about what she is wearing and in particular today's dress. It's just a dress for goodness' sake. The mistress ticked me off about this. She said a woman likes to get compliments. Why? Look it up in your books she says.
The mistress likes Thai food and spots a restaurant. A charming fella served us and very quickly a meal came out. But a few minutes later a funny noise and spotted a robot delivering a meal to another table. OMG what next. This north island place has funny ideas up here. Yep, she says. They are a funny lot it appears. But why are they different from us. It's all these huge rainfalls they get, and their brains are watered down. In the South Island, we are tough and don't carry on like this lot. We don't drive while hanging on to a pizza either.
Now the mistress is very annoyed. She has gone to look for today's photos, and nope they are not there. This must mean we are on limited Wifi again. There are a few other things that are limited around here, but we won't go there.
Enjoy Northland Judy
