Whangamata/ Waihi
7/3/23
The mistress is determined to get to this place and because the sun is shining, we are off, while we can. It appears the big road damage is above Whangamata, and only small patches to deal with on this side.
The local information center lady was delighted that we left a card, and is going to put it on their website that we popped in. How amazing is that?
I so love going out in this car, the mistress does check in from time to time that I am ok. Arh, she cares aye. Usually, I am consulting my books as I have so much to learn in this human world. The mistress keeps me on my toes by throwing yet another subject to explore like my small brain.
Plus, my job of looking out for those red and blue lights. We didn't see any again today so again the mistress is obeying the road rules.
When we finally get home, I will have so much to tell my mates. I'll have to call a meeting, but only through the night as we don't want those humans to know what we talk about. The mistress is known for getting up through the night too so we will have someone on the lookout.
Now the road today was pretty good considering the rainfall and already soggy ground. The mistress is fascinated by the color of the soil here. Bright orange, and all shades. She can't take a photo as she's driving.
Now upon arriving at this lovely place that tickles her fancy, was time for a cuppa, and a nice cheese scone for lunch. A wander around the shops and some reading for me and human watching from my prime position in the car and the sun on my brow.
Oh, heck a parcel came into the car on arriving back. I was told it was no business of mine to ask about the contents. She was gone for ages, but I don't really mind.
Some sightseeing while she watches the clouds turning black. It is really a pretty place.
We head back and go into Whiritoa as it's on the same side of the road. An interesting place here whereby the looks of it, not much happens here. Maybe she is wrong. We didn't see a shopping block or even a hotel, but we did eventually find at the end of a road a general store and cafe combined. The mistress is hanging out for a cuppa again and a bowl of curly fries.
The lovely and very chirpy lady was delighted to meet us and especially me. We gave her our card and was keen to look us up. Our order arrived on a huge tray. Now right in front of me she put a gnome size bowl of curly fries and a cup for the mistress to pour my tea. What a treat. Nobody has done this for me before. I feel very special now. The mistress has told me to not let it go to my head.
But really, I did enjoy this snack. Some other customers thought it was rather good that I was treated too.
All the road works on the way over had all gone on going back to Waihi, making it a faster trip.
Now, this computer is still playing up, with no photos going over yet. The mistress is fuming. The daughter is stumped and suggests going to a computer Mr fix it. We now have an appointment tomorrow.
Us Gnomes stay away from this technology stuff. It hurts our small brains, and we would rather stick to our books.
