19/7/23
Brrr a chilly morning. These two love birds were up early to turn the heater on and went back to bed. The cheek of them. I won't complain because I was cold too as this camping business is quite different from our home heat pump. I hear we head back tomorrow afternoon. I wonder where the Mistress will place me, as I am so precious. Now remember these are her words, not mine.
Waiting for a friend at lunchtime
So today we went to meet a friend for lunch. Oh no, it's that whickered woman who put me in a box and sent me home. What would she do to me today I wonder? It was nice to see her again and I hear my brother who lives at her place asking after me. He better watch her I reckon. This woman is capable of all sorts of things believe me. She has a son too, and he gives my mistress a hard time usually. They both encourage her to drink heaps of wine. She doesn't seem to get a sore head either.
This afternoon we traveled on a very rough road and this fella here took his time and very carefully navigated this gravel road with caution. The mistress was hoping they didn't meet a logging truck because there was no room for both vehicles. Eventually, we arrived at the White Horse monument up very high on a hill.
**As quoted from Google... It can be seen when approaching this small town and a great landmark she says. This Horse represents the Clydesdale horse from the early settlers many years ago. Built in 1968 the White Horse is a testament to one man's dream and determination. Retired farmer Norman Hayman returned from a European holiday inspired by a Friesian cow statue in Holland. He reckoned that the Clydesdale horse deserved a similar tribute for its contribution, especially to this area. Micheal Studholme at Te Waimate had 100 working draught horses in the 1870s. **
We even saw lots of tracks for bikes and walkers who frequently walk up the front of this hill. Also, an area that is protected they tell me. Protected from what I ask. Wallabies and Possums, rats, stoats too she announces.
A very interesting view I must say. Especially so as it was warm and sunny, and these 2 humans were chuffed with the view from the new viewing decks. Lots of signage and details to read, which kept these 2 busy reading and taking pictures of yours truly.
**Lone Pine Tree up at the White Horse, is a direct descendant of Gallipoli and was planted in August 2015 as a living memorial to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the end of the Gallipoli campaign in August 1915.**
We all enjoyed being up there and coming back a different way. Now I heard them talk about a poor little wallaby and possum roadkill. Who would do this to a defenseless animal?
The caravan was capturing the sunshine in our absence. Then this fella here eventually heated up a meal. Gosh, the mistress may yet be redundant one day.
The mistress went for a shower and took off her neckless and look at where she placed it. She thinks I look cute.....what do you reckon?
